I tried my contacts lenses on for 30 seconds 2 weeks ago, I went to the optometrist and was told if i want PRK?
I tried my contacts lenses on for a minute 2 weeks ago, I went to the optometrist and was told if i want PRK or lasik they have to be out for thirty days and i was wondering if i wore them for 30 seconds and litterally not even a minute does that date start the 30 days or do i go last time prior to wearing them for a whole dayI wore them for 30 seconds because I used clear care contact lenses cleaning solution for the first time and ii let them sit over night and my eyes were burning. I followed the directions exactly like it said. I wore them for 30 seconds because i used clear care contact cleaning solution. I let them sit overnight like it said and the next day when i put them in my eyes my eyes started burning so i took it out right away, it left my eyes red for less than a day. and i only put the contact in one eye if that helps
I had an eye test yesterday, and I'd like to know why the optometrist only updated my prescription for 1 year?
The last prescription for glasses I had from July 2008 to last Month was a 18 months extension of the prescription I had from 2006, which improved slightly or a little in 2008.I thought prescriptions for glasses usually lasted 2 years. So why has this optometrist who has only tested my eyes once yesterday February 10 , only given a prescription for 1 year?He did say to me that my prescription eyes were worse than the last previous prescription. But when I came home, I had a look at the copy I have of the 2008 2010 prescription, and this new one 2010 2011 and the details on both, appear to be the same, except the new one doesn't show the details of Add, Intermediate, Hor Prism, or Ver Prism nor PD.Only Sphere, Cylinder, and Axis. The new and current glasses prescription is as follows Right LeftSphere 5.75 6.50Cylinder 0.50 1.75Axis 10 180The previous glasses prescription from July 25 2008 January 25 2010 is as follows Right LeftSphere 5.75 6.50Cylinder 0.50 1.75Axis 10 180AddIntermediateHor PrismVer PrismPD 63 60I'm long sighted with a astigmatism.
If you have pink eye where do you go to the doctor or the optometrist?

Just got back from the optometrist...?
And he said that there was a " thinning of my retina" . He said that it was common in people who are nearsighted, and that because I was so young it probably wasn't going to be anything major but I'm still kind of worried about it. He wants me to come back for a dilation in the next couple of months so he can take a closer look at it, but I was wondering if any of you had any experiences with this and what happened etc...Thanks
Why did the optometrist tell me to wear my contacts for only 4 hours?
Today was the first day wearing my new contacts. My optometrist told me to wear them for 4 hours max today and then add 2 hours every day afterwards, but they feel fine to me, so how come I can't wear them all day the first few days? Thanks in advance
Different lensometer readings from the optometrist every time. What's going on here?
I've decided to have my new right lens match an old one, which has been sharper at medium distance and resulted in better binocular comfort than anything new dialed in at the office.Unfortunately, I no longer know what on earth the old prescription is, because every time my optometrist puts that lens in his manual lensometer he gets a different reading. I'm pretty sure US doctors require you to be there in person to recover old prescriptions, and I'm two thousand miles away, so I haven't pursued getting the ACTUAL copy of the old prescription. Maybe somebody knows otherwise? So what on earth is going on here? First time 3.00 1.50 x20Second time 3.50 0.50 x25Third time 3.50 0.75 x25. Is there REALLY this much margin of error? The problem is, he ordered a lens to " match" my old lens based on the second reading, and it's just no way near as clear at close medium distance as the lens it's supposed to be based on.So when I pick up my new lenses I ask him to measure the lens again to make sure his reading was right. " Yeah, the old lens is definitely 3.50 0.75 x25." he says. " But you said last time it was 3.50 0.50 x25," I say." Hmm. Nope, according to the reading I just got it's definitely 3.50 0.75 x25." " Then why didn't you make the lens at that strength. Didn't I say I wanted to match that lens?" " Because we tried both 0.50 and 0.75 and you seemed to like it more with 0.50" " Well, I liked it more because it was supposed to be the most similar to my current. They looked about the same in the office, but I know my current to be the most comfortable and clear in the widest variety of circumstances, so I wanted what was closest." " Well, it's only a quarter diopter of cylindrical in an eye with heavy myopia, so it shouldn't make any difference. It's just a matter of getting used to it." Unfortunately when I took the lens home and started reading I could definitely tell the difference. it's the difference between seeing ghostly, pale, and strain inducing type in that eye at 10 inches or seeing crisp, clear, easily focused type at 10 inches.Of course, I really have no idea if the difference is really from just a quarter diopter or a full one, because at this point I don't know which if any of the above lensometer readings is accurate.I thought manual lensometers were supposed to be rather precise. What's going on? Should I ask for the quarter diopter be put in, run around getting other people to read the lens, fly over to my old doctor and get a copy of that old prescription from 2007, or what? I've already plunked down $300 US for these new glasses, so finding a new doc isn't really an option, since he's the only guy who'll keep remaking the lens for free until I get the right ones or he gets tired enough of it to confront me about it.Oh brother. I'm honestly two steps away from getting somebody to grind down the old lens to fit in my new frames.
After 6 years of wearing 1.5 unit reading glasses, the optometrist has given me a new script with 2.25 units.?
Would it be detrimental to my eyes to get new 1.75 unit glasses, as I don't need the magnification of 2.25?
When you try trial pairs at the optometrist are they free or do you have to pay additionally?
Should I take my girlfriend to the optometrist?
She says she wants to see other people.
I went to the optometrist today, I'm VERY confused, and was too mad to talk to him, help?
So all my life well, 17 years I have had 20 20 vision. Never really thought it would change, especially this fast. So today I went in for a check up after a year and I need glasses contacts So mad. What I'm confused about it, I was just browsing some contacts, just to see what's out there you know, don't have a prescription and as I was choosing what contacts I'd be interested in I got confused. He said I'm near sighted but have Astigmatism...well the contacts acuvue.com you could only pick either Astigmatism, or near far sided contacts. What? So what ones would I pick? I don't know. And didn't think to ask him.By the way one eye is 20 30 and one is 20 50.
Will the optometrist let me wear colour contacts?
Hey guys,I'm getting my eyes tested and fitted for contact lenses tomorrow.. What do the optometrists generally do? What questions do they ask? The main reason I'm getting contacts is because i want a colour change but if I tell him that, he might not let me because I was being ridiculous or something. The other reason is I keep losing my actual glasses and it gets quite annoying to wear them to school...Er I don't do any sports either... Is there a chance he might just make me wear clear contacts? Thanks guys
Does the optometrist tell you what brand of trial contact lenses he is givng you?
My optometrist did not I forgot to ask him too And never even showed me the box. The optometrist is pretty reputed though.
What to do? The optometrist didn't fill out full prescription?
I recently took my son to the optometrist to update his prescription. After buying a pair of glasses from the store, we decided that it would be a good idea to order some online. This is how the prescription reads SPH CYL AxisOD 0.75 0.25OS 2.50 0.50Shouldn't there be an axis number to determine the direction of the astigmatism? It's completely blank. Thanks
