Optometrist Versus Opthamologist

Eye exam numbers between and optometrist versus opthamologist?
I have a question about eye exam numbers? Supposedly I see 20 20 with my glasses but the number the opthamologist gave me is so different on the new perscription than from my last exam from an optometrist. Can you tell me if they are relatively the same? He said they are.and mentioned that I would not even need to get new glasses but because they are scratched now, I would like to, but I am concerned whether to buy a new pair because of the cost, or if I should go elsewhere and be rechecked. I am blind as a bat, but I am concerned and have not placed an order yet because I am worried about these new numbers. Thank you At present i am wearing this number RIGHT EYE SPH 6.00 CYL 1.25 AXIS 3 degree LEFT EYE SPH 7.50 CYL 2.25 AXIS 165 degree I went for my eye check up today and doctor gave me following number RIGHT EYE SPH 7.50 CYL 1.75 AXIS 90 LEFT EYE SPH 10.00 CYL 2.50 AXIS 77
