What are the pros and cons with glasses and contact lenses?

Can you get glasses and contact lenses at the same time?
Im purchasing a new pair of glasses for my adult son for Christmas, but now he has mentioned he would also like to try contacts. Does it cost a lot more to get contact lenses at the same time? He's 27 yrs old, and I am ok with purchasing both, but he has such horrible allergies, he's not sure he can use contacts. I want to know how much contacts may cost?

Hi everyone .... I want to join the police force in the UK within the next seven months however i have concerns in regards to my eyesight and the tests... I can see the required second line down third line at a push... unaided on the Snellen chart. I understand that the current specifications state that you must be able to read the " second line down" unaided . Here is where my question is the specifications require recruits to have vision equivalent to 20 20 approx 7 8th line down on chart with glasses lenses .... It seems like a tall order for my sight, but i need to ask .... If you go to the opticians and have a pair of glasses or lenses made to your required prescription in diopters , are they definitely going to give me the 20 20 vision i need?Please don't suggest laser surgery as the risks are too great.....1 in 5 go blind Anyone heard anything about Ortho K lenses that temporalily reshape the cornea? Would they get me through on the eyesight test if i used them?

What's d difference between reading glasses and contact lenses?

I have just had my NHS tax credit exemption certificate through the post and it mentions that I am entitled to 'the full value of a voucher towards the cost of glasses or contact lenses'. Can anybody tell me how much this is as I wear contact lenses and sometimes use glasses. Thanks.

Why do you need to keep getting new prescriptions to buy glasses and contact lenses?
I think this law makes no sense. Of course it is wise to get a prescription in order to find out what you need. But prescriptions expire and then you have to go back for an eye exam even if you know your eyes haven't changed. I understand why it is important to control medication, but glasses and contact lenses, a contact lens is just a piece of plastic. Enlighten me.

I have a vision problem, which is partly corrected by glasses and contact lenses but not 100%...?
ive been in and out of hospitals inc morrfields eye hospital for the past 5 6 years to try and see why i still cant see properly with glasses or conact lenses. Using glasses and contact lenses simultaneiously?
ok so I have contact lenses and when I wear then for driving, I can pretty much just make out license plate at the recommended distance.Question is can I use a pair of glasses on top of my contact lenses to give me that little bit of missing edge to enable me to read it easily?I dont like wearing glasses hence why I use lenses so if I had to wear glasses it would only be whilst driving but if I dont wear lenses when I drive then I'll never have lenses in when I go out atall??Is it feasible for use glasses to make a little more correction, or will this not work?just to note im not on about wearing full strength glasses on top of contacts, im on about using small strength to get that last extra bit.

If I go to my opticians for a normal eye test which usally means to check if I need new glasses , and then ask them for my prescription, is it the same info as needed for contact lenses?Or do I need to ask for a specific contact lenses eye test and ask for a " contact lens prescription" I'M REFERRING TO THE STRENTGH, AS I ALREADY KNOW MY BASE CURVE AND DIAMETER FOR MY LENSES
