What are the best rigid gas permeable contact lenses to get for dry eyes?
I can wear soft contact lenses for a maximum of 3 hours without discomfort. After that I start to feel the lens, my eyes get tired and itchy. I thought it was just my dry eyes, but it seems as my ophthalmologist told me I also have very oily skin and my soft contacts just get too clogged too fast. So, I want to go to an ophthalmologist again and get a prescription for RGP's Can someone recommend a brand of RGP's that will suit my eyes. I have astigmatism, dry eyes, and well, oily eyes, I guess. > .> I was checking out Paradigm HDS 100 and Boston XO2 those seem the best, at least for what I have read so far. Please, if someone could recommend something, preferably someone who deals with RGP's.Thanks in advance, guys

Has anyone who wears gas permeable contact lenses ever got neo-vascularization of the eyes?
I stopped wearing my gas permeable lenses for almost a year to allow my eyes to heal after having been diagnosed with corneal neo vascularization. They say that gas permeable contact lenses offer the most oxygen to the eye but I've noticed since I started wearing them once again that my eyes are very red only after a day of wearing them. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a remedy for this neo vascularization new blood vessel growth ?

Rigid gas permeable contact lenses and tap water?
Using tap water to rinse rgp's is apprently fda approved, but most doctors and websites suggest that you shouldn't do this. But doesn't tap water get in your eye when you wash your face and shower anyway? Unlike soft contact lenses rgp's move up and down when you blink, so I don't think it traps the water, rather it washes it out or at least mixes tear solution under it. which should have antibacterial properties .So, is tap water rinsing safe? off topic i've never tried it, but what happens if you don't rinse off the strong solution to clean rgp's, a large burning sensation? I can't really test my water, but that's not the point. The same water that comes out of the tap is the same water I use to wash my wash and shower, which usually gets in my eye, of course no harm comes from that. So I'm thinking, there should be no harm in using that water to rinse. It's not like it's stuck under the lens like in soft contacts. It washes out with blinking.

When i wear my gas permeable contact lenses, it seems that i cant sleep very good. any ideas?
i wear nighttime contacts. they make your eye into a more circular shape when your sleeping so that when you wake up and take them out, you have 20 20 vision.

If you have corneal neovascularization, which is better - gas permeable contact lenses or disposable lenses?
I am not sure which offers my eyes more oxgen gas permable lenses or the newer, thinner disposable daily contact lenses. An optician at an eyeglass store sold me the disposables, but I am worried that his medical advice was biased by the sale. In the past, I have been told that gas permeables are the best for corneal neovascularization. The optician told me that things have changed with the evolution of the dispoable lenses. Any unbiased help would be much appreciated. Thank you so much

Does anyone wear Rigid gas permeable contact lenses?
Can you go to a place like Lens Crafters to get them? Did it take a long time to get used to? Is it true that you can have 20 20 with them? Thank you so much for your answer.

I'm about to get rigid gas permeable contact lenses, and I'm wondering if it's okay to play tennis with them?
I just had my eye exam almost exactly a week ago, and my optometrist recommended me rgp contact lenses for crisper vision, as I have bad astigmatism. I know the diameter of rgp contact is smaller than a soft contact, thus, will it be easier to... fall out of my eye in a sense?I'm going to be playing tennis with them, and I can't afford to lose a contact lens by it coming out of my eye. Also, how long does it take generally to custom make rgp contact lenses? I have yet to get a call from my optometrist.

How much would exam for rigid gas permeable contact lenses cost?
I have tried a lot of different types of soft contact lenses but It seems they are just not for me. My eyes are too dry to wear them and after just 2 hours is gets unbearable. I have read a lot about RGB's. Now I want to get an exam since I know it is much more involved than with soft contact lenses. Does anyone know how much would it cost? The exam itself.Thank you

Can I use AOsept plus on my (Boston original) gas permeable contact lenses?
I would ask my eye care pro, but I'm currently out of the country, hence the question.

Gas Permeable contact lenses advice?
Hi everyone I'm a 14 year old girl, and I'm probably getting Gas Permeable contact lenses tomorrow. My optician, who is also a family friend, advised me to get them instead of the standard soft lenses because they are cheaper, give better vision and are less prone to infection. I had a trial today, and they felt okay, I think I will be able to get used to them easily enough. I'm going back tomorrow to learn how to put them in and take them out, then if all goes well I will be able to take them with me I just wanted to ask any of you out there who is was in a similar situation to me if you have had any trouble with them, how long it took you to get used to them, that kind of thing, just to put my mind at ease Thank you

Are Gas Permeable contact lenses still available?
I need to get new Gas Permeable lenses as i've had these ones for around three years now. Are they still available or have soft disposable ones replaced them?

Rigid Gas Permeable contact lenses can't be inserted on the white of the eye and slid over the pupil can they?
A phobia means I can't look directly at the lens when I insert it, but I have found I can insert soft lenses because I can slide them into position, but I am told my condition needs RGP .

Can anybody give me anymore information on Rigid Gas Permeable contact lenses?
I've been looking to buy eye wear that is non disposable, but it has come to my attention that hard contacts are not available anymore. the other option that has been showing up is something call Rigid Gas Permeable contacts. can you tell me what they are exactly?good things?bad?where can I get them? cost? other suggestions of non disposable eye wear are welcome too besides glasses thank you so much
