Fx Contact Lenses

1 year old white out special fx contact lenses... are they still ok to wear?
I bought a pair of white out contact lenses for halloween last year and only wore them twice. I know they expire after one year, but is that with continual use? Ive had them in solution since and i want to wear them again this halloween...they were expensive since they are prescription. Are they ok to wear still?

Why do you have to be fitted for FX contact lenses if you don't want prescription lenses?
Can't you just buy FX lenses that are not prescription? What if I just wanted to use them for Halloween?
