Can hair over the eye cause eye infections?

Hi I recently discovered sores on my penis and then after popping a few of them I wasn't even thinking and rubbed my right eye. A few days later my eye started to feel like it was burning. The next morning my eye was glued shut with crusty pus. I went to the doctor who gave me valtrex for what we suspect is herpes and he gave me tobramycin for my eye. I've read in a few places tobramycin is bad for herpes related eye infections but we don't even know yet if it is herpes tests come back friday I've been taking the drops and valtrex for 2 days and have not seen any improvements. This was my family doctor not a specialist. Should I seek out another doctor or wait a little longer to see if the valtrex clears up my eye?I'm frustrated that my eye is acting so strange. It's red, teary, and when I sleep i wake up with crust.Thanks
