Question: Whats the differnce between o2 optix and air optix by ciba contact lenses?

O2 Optix was a two week lens. Air Optix is a monthly lens. I am not certain that there is really a lot of difference between them. Part of the change has to do with CIBA deciding to only make one day and one month products.

Air Optix (also known as O2 Optix, apparently) are made of 76% lotrafilcon B and 33% water. They have a dK/ t of 175 They can be worn every day for up to 6 nights continuous wear Available diameters 14.5mm Air Optix Aqua are made of 67% lotrafilcon B and 24% water. They have a dK/ t of 138 They can be worn every day for up to 30 nights continuous wear. Available diameters 14.2mm Both lens materials have tri-comfort technology. They let up to five times more oxygen through the lens than traditional soft contact lenses and are designed to retain moisture for comfort all day long. Plus they have superior deposit resistance for cleaner lenses. The slightly higher priced Air Optix Night & Day has one of the highest Dk/ t values, which might result in some additional wearing comfort.

I'm not familiar with Ciba's Markgetting strategies worldwide: But here in Australia: They're EXACTLY the same except for a surface polymer coating that makes the Air Optix Aqua slightly more 'slippery' and comfortable (?). The Air Optix Aqua replaced the O2 Optix lens. (they're both Monthly replacement lenses - with sleep in schedule of up to 6 nights - but not recommended)
