Just had a consultation for laser treatment on my eyes and found out i have cataracts i am 56 any advice guys?
i still would like to improve my vision but dont know what road to take next
Can a injury to the head cause cataracts i am having problems with my doctor?
i will try and make this as short as possible in 2008 i was attacked in my home i was punched in the face and my head was banged against the wall .i suffered severe headaches and blur ed vision ,and my balance was off .the iris in my right eye would not go to the corner of my eye ,i went to the eye hospital they asked if i had had a head injury i said yes but my doctor said it was caused by an under active thyroid that i had had since january 2007 in 2009i went to see my optician as i was having blur ed vision he said i had a cataract forming on my right eye ,i have just been to my optician again and now have a cataract on my left eye i have to have surgery to remove the cataracts ,could the injury to my head have caused the cataracts my Doctor said no but the optician said yes who do i believe .,i am very angry at the way i have been treated need serious answers please ,thank you .

Question about cataracts in the eye?
When you start getting up into your late 40's to early 50's is it fairly common to get cataracts? Both of my parents had them and removed , and now my older brother just had one removed. He's in his late 40's, and I'm edging right up there too.Just wondering if it's more of an old age type of thing, or if it's more hereditary?

My friend was told she has cataracts in both eyes, in her right eye, two different kinds, a film on the lens..?
and one behind the lens. the doctor said the one behind the lens can grow quick, and we think it did. in the past month it has gotten harder for her to see out of it. her left eye has a scar on the retina from a ruptured blood vessel, and can only see peripheral vision, so she relies on the right one. she says that when watching tv, it is cloudy and blurry, but when she looks up at the ceiling, she can see the vivid colors and figures clearer from the bottom of her eye. Is this cataract behind her lens doing this? making her vision worse fast? She is severely nearsighted, but was able to see a lot better just a month ago. Any eye docs around?
Microwave ovens and cataracts?
Hi, I've been reading about how damaged microwave ovens can cause cataracts by allowing microwaves to leak out, and heat the lens of the eye, which results in the formation of a cataract.What I was wondering, would the formation of the cataract occur as soon as it was heated, or would it simply accelerate cataracts? Like, say a person was exposed to microwave radiation, and the lens of their eye was heated. Would this person experience cataracts as soon as the heating took place, or is it possible that he would experience cataracts years later due to the microwave exposure?I'm having trouble explaining what I want to say, so if my question isn't clear enough, say so and I'll edit it. Basically, my question is, does microwave exposure cause immediate formation of cataracts, or could microwave exposure affect a person years down the line and cause cataracts?
Why do cataracts prevent glasses from working?
I tried to Google the question but all I found was that surgery is usually advised when glasses no longer provide correction as well as other reasons.So my question is why exactly do you reach the point when glasses stop providing any vision correction? Is that common that glasses do absolutely " nothing?"

my son was born with CP hes 18 months old. He has seen two ophthalmologists both came to the same conclusion he had dislocated lens and cataracts in both eyes 6 months ago they have photos and Ultra sound results to show the they are there. Today we have been told he has no signs of dislocated lens or cataracts. Is this possible?

Okay, so I'm 13 years old and I am a girl. I have gone to many eye doctors and they all said that I have a small cataract forming , which is weird because not many young people as young as me get cataracts.. So I wear glasses because I am near sided. My question is can I wear contacts? I want them, but I don't know if the Eye doctor would say no because of the cataract . Thanks in advance
